Universal thinks big with Kong attraction

It really all revolves around probably the biggest scale of an attraction overall that I've been involved with in my 35 years in the industry.

Universal Orlando is in the midst of a big buildup to an even bigger deal. Coming this summer to Islands of Adventure is Skull Island: Reign of Kong, the theme park's most substantial addition since the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in 2010.

The overriding theme, says Universal Creative executive producer Mike West, is massive.

"It really all revolves around probably the biggest scale of an attraction overall that I've been involved with in my 35 years in the industry," he said.

Universal recently showed off the attraction's ride vehicle, which measures 40 feet long and 13 feet high. Each "expedition truck" will hold 72 passengers. There will be strength in those numbers, according to West.
